Birdville ISD released its 2020–21 Reopening Plan on July 23. The Plan includes information regarding online and face-to-face instruction, health and safety information, assessment, special education and much more.
Due to the constantly evolving situation with COVID-19, and the regularly changing guidance from state education and health officials, BISD’s Plan will be reviewed and updated as needed to reflect new requirements from the CDC; federal, state, or county orders; or the Texas Education Agency.
Since the Plan is subject to change, BISD families and staff are encouraged to continue to check the site for further updates to the Plan.
At the Thursday, July 23 Board meeting, trustees voted to accept administration’s recommendation to push the start of school back to Monday, Aug. 24. This change will allow the District to provide teachers additional training, distribute technology to students, and allow parents to be trained on Canvas Parent.
Canvas Parent is designed to provide visibility into your child’s education at a glance. Canvas Parent allows parents to:
View assignment descriptions and due dates;
Set reminders for assignments;
View assignment grades;
View course grades; and
Facilitate communication between parents and teachers.
It is important for parents, teachers and students to review the changes to the 2020–21 calendar.
NOTE: Additional details about the start of the school year will be posted online as soon as information becomes available.
