Elected to the BISD Board in 2011, McCarty is married to Dana and has two children. He currently serves as Board president. McCarty is a 1980 graduate of Richland High School. http://schools.birdvilleschools.net/Page/31275

Porter Students Exemplify BISD’s C.O.R.E. Values

Third-grade students at Porter Elementary recently sponsored a service project for the whole school. From Jan. 11–22, they collected coins from students, staff, and community members. Their goal was to raise $2,016 for Shields Elementary in Red Oak, a librarian at Pearson Elementary in Garland ISD, and several families, all of which were impacted by the December tornados. So far, the campus has raised more than $2,931. Assistant Principal Chad Paris agreed to allow students to duct tape him to the wall if they met their goal. Since the school exceeded the goal, he is going to be duct taped to the cafeteria wall, most likely wearing princess attire.

Porter students exemplify BISD’s C.O.R.E. values of responsibility, empathy, kindness, honesty, acceptance, and courage.
